A Note from Ioli
Ο σχεδιασμός της κλινικής Facemed ήταν για εμάς μια ευχάριστη πρόκληση, καθώς τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά του σκοπού που η ίδια εξυπηρετεί (η εξατομικευμένη φροντίδα, η καινοτομία στις τεχνικές, η υψηλή αισθητική) είναι έννοιες που χαρακτηρίζουν τη γλώσσα του σχεδιασμού μας αλλά και της προσέγγισης μας στην υλοποίηση των έργων μας. Θετικό ξεκίνημα, λοιπόν, check! Το επόμενο ουσιαστικό βήμα της επικοινωνίας, βέβαια, είναι η συνεννόηση: Μια σύμπνοια ως προς το όραμα, τον χαρακτήρα, τον σκοπό, όπως και το τι ορίζουμε ως επιτυχία για αυτό το πρότζεκτ. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, με τον γιατρό Νίκο Δημήτρουλα, τον ιδρυτή της κλινικής Facemed, συνεννοηθήκαμε και συμφωνήσαμε να γράψουμε ιστορία -μεταφορικά και κυριολεκτικά!-, στον χώρο της ιατρικής αισθητικής στον χώρο της ιατρικής αισθητικής μέσω του design.
Ο στόχος ήταν μια ιστορία γλυκιά αλλά και συναρπαστική, που σέβεται τις προσδοκίες του αποδέκτη ως προς τις παροχές και τα στυλιστικά χαρακτηριστικά ενός ιατρικού περιβάλλοντος, προκαλώντας τα ταυτόχρονα διευρυνθούν. Όπως υποστηρίζουμε στη δουλειά μας, όσο σημαντικό είναι κανείς να νιώθει άνετα άλλο τόσο είναι το να εξελίσσεται – και αυτό προϋποθέτει να βγει και λίγο έξω από το απόλυτο και συχνά καθησυχαστικό «comfort zone». Πρώτος κανόνας της ιστορία μας, η δομή: Μια ξεκάθαρη αρχή, μέση και ένα τέλος όσον αφορά στην εμπειρία του επισκέπτη. Τη δομή θα ακολουθεί η ροή, το χρονικό πλαίσιο. Πόσην ώρα θα παρευρίσκεται ο πελάτης, ή ο εργαζόμενος, σε κάθε χώρο αλλά και ο χρόνος μετάβασης από την αναμονή στη θεραπεία, από τη θεραπεία στην ολοκλήρωση της εμπειρίας. Τρίτο σημαντικό στοιχείο ο χαρακτήρας: Συμφωνήσαμε σε ένα χαρακτήρα συνεπή αλλά και απρόβλεπτο, προσανατολισμένο στο να ενθαρρύνει τον επισκέπτη να γίνει μέρος του νέου μας σύμπαντος και να κρατάει ζωντανό το ενδιαφέρον του κατά τη διάρκεια της περιήγησής του στον χώρο, με πολλαπλά στοιχεία έκπληξης. Τέλος, το μυστικό συστατικό για την επιτυχία: Το ‘κάτι’ παραπάνω. Μια ιστορία, με άλλα λόγια, που θα αφήνει την αίσθηση ότι έχει και άλλα να δώσει, έναν ενθουσιασμό και μια υπόσχεση για αυτό που μπορεί να έρθει στο μέλλον. Αυτό που θα κάνει τον επισκέπτη να επανεπισκέπτεται τον χώρο, όχι μόνο λόγω της λειτουργικής αξίας του ως κλινική, αλλά και της συνολικής αισθητικής εμπειρίας που του προσφέρει. Αυτό το ‘κάτι’, τελικά, ορίσαμε ως επιτυχία.
Ελπίζω να απολαύσετε την παρουσίαση αυτού του πρότζεκτ και να το αγαπήσετε όσο εμείς! Θα είμαστε και εμείς εδώ ακόλουθοι της ίδιας υπόσχεσης που δίνει αυτό το πρότζεκτ και για εμάς τους ίδιους ως Ioli Chiotini Studio, να περιμένουμε να δημιουργήσουμε το κάτι παραπάνω για έναν οργανισμό και έναν πελάτη που θέλει διαρκώς να εξελίσσεται.

The Entrance Shift
Located in a fast-paced part of Athens, the clinic was designed as a cinematic escape from the city’s noise. From the moment of entry, visitors are invited to slow down and step into a carefully curated zone of calm. The foyer introduces the language of the overall intervention, with gradient-designed walls, soft carpeting, a playful SØLØ stool, sculptural lighting by Studio Chris Basias, and vivid accents. Each detail offers a quiet preview of the rhythm and palette that define the Facemed experience.
Design as Social Signal
The full-length mirror at the entrance of the space, echoing an organic shape, has been placed as a symbol of the company’s focus, which is aesthetics. It invites the clients and visitors of the space to take photos, thereby promoting the company spontaneously and organically on social media.
Staging Comfort and Character
The waiting area, as the central scene of the space, was designed to convey both attentiveness and a strong first impression. The bold red glass cabinet acts as a sculptural focal point while also serving as a display for selected products. The low curved sofa invites comfort and a sense of refined care that reflects the treatment to follow. Organic coffee tables hold objects and books that create a more intimate atmosphere. A small hospitality unit with coffee and treats reinforces the welcoming feel and transforms waiting into a considered experience.
A Scenic Promise
The first dynamic element introduced into the design was an artistic wallpaper, created by SØLØ in collaboration with Ioli Chiotini Studio, specifically for this project. The composition depicts a utopian, theatrical landscape populated by exotic plants, sea creatures, and land animals: A surreal equilibrium between the real and the imagined. The soft tonal background enhances a sense of stillness and depth, while the detailed figures anchor the narrative in visual curiosity. Placed intentionally in the most “clinical” part of the space, the wallpaper does more than decorate: It expands the city’s edge into a conceptual interior landscape. Like a prologue, it acts as an early promise of the experience that unfolds.
The Blue That Shapes Space
The gradient royal blue emerges as a central design element, evoking a sense of controlled luxury, timeless elegance, and depth. Referencing the language of fashion, it shapes perception by expanding width or depth through visual effects, depending on its placement. Color becomes a tool for orientation, flow, and spatial experience.
Bespoke at the Core
The client’s desk was custom-designed based on how he moves and works within the space. Both solid and inviting, its form wraps around him during moments of writing and focus, while its curved lines on the opposite side frame his guests, creating a sense of dialogue and guiding the natural flow of the room.
Rugs That Lead
The custom rugs, shaped in organic forms, serve not only to define different zones but also as a subtle design gesture. One flows into the next with ease, creating a sense of movement and quiet luxury. Visitors are guided almost instinctively from reception to the lounge area through a sequence that feels entirely natural. The red trim, directly linked to the brand identity, affirms that nothing in this space is accidental.
The Corridor as Canvas
As we transition toward the treatment rooms, the signature gradient blue concept becomes more prominent while intentionally taking advantage of the corridor’s narrow layout to create a striking effect. The blue’s placement was carefully considered to amplify this impression. Here, spatial limitation became a creative asset, turning a transitional area into a moment of intrigue.
The Waiting Gesture
As a process that is by nature passive, forced and still, we wanted to overturn that with movement and energy. The seating element, central to the waiting experience, becomes a source of visual interest and playfulness through the wave-like curve of the sofa’s backrest, paired with the circular blue dot pattern – a signature motif by SØLØ.
Cinematic WC – Identity Capsule
The guest WC acts as a condensed version of the entire concept. A bold interplay of color and form: fiery red, deep blue, mural-like graphics and circular reflections, turns the space into a near-scenographic experience. Though compact, the room is unapologetically expressive, making a spatial statement in favor of the brand’s identity. Here, small scale doesn’t mean compromise, it means concentration.
